I think the coloring's working for you. I really like the shadows of the branches on the path. The grass texture looks a little out of place, like it's a little too sparse for how sharply defined it is, but the overall effect is striking. This is a really nice piece, and I love the action and atmosphere of it.

I really like the characters. However, I think you should put a bit more work into the background, to make the picture better. Great detail on the clothes and chars though!
